Just this Saturday, we enjoyed a beautiful day at Mendez Middle School, a school to which most of our Houston kiddos will attend after they finish at Houston. We were invited to a community garage sale, and we collected donations from within our community. All told, we had hundreds of items, from glasses to bras to tires to baby strollers. Check out the pics below!
Unfortunately, the event wasn't as popular as we'd hoped. I fear that the terror fomented by ICE actions over the last 10 days have convinced people to stay home for anything that isn't essential for survival. It really showed in the community this weekend, as the typically busy streets were very, very quiet.
As one of our leaders commented, however, "¡Unidos lo superamos!" ¡Adelante!
