Cameron Allen was born in Casper, Wyoming, and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He arrived in Austin in 2002, where he began his formal studies in elementary education at UT. After student teaching, graduating, and spending some time in Ecuador, he returned to Austin and found work teaching adult English as a Second Language. Almost immediately, he recognized the untapped power of the space, and has since dedicated his work and study to developing empowering and democratic adult learning spaces.
He became the Adult Education Coordinator at American YouthWorks, while continuing to teach, develop curriculum, and build the program. He left AYW in June of 2013 to pursue further education.
In May 2014, Mr. Allen earned his Master's of Education in the Learning and Teaching program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, whereupon he returned to Austin to build a program with his former students and their families. This program is The SEED Adult and Family Learning Community. See full resume.
