Tupac Alcauter, Community Outreach Coordinator, VISTA Member

Tupac was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. He moved to Mexico City to work and go to school. In 2000 he graduated with a B. A. in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. In 2011, he completed his Master’s degree in Environmental Auditing and Management with a specialization in Waste Treatment and Management from the Universidad de Leon, Spain.

He has 14 years of experience in the Mexican federal government in SEMARNAT developing policies and regulations to promote environmental protections in urban areas. He also collaborated in the developing of guidelines for the efficient use of water and regulating the environmental impact of natural gas networks.

After moving to the US, Tupac began working in the field of education as a teacher assistant for English Language Learners (ELL). He then transitioned to the role of Family Engagement Specialist, coordinating Adult English and GED classes, as well as encouraging parental involvement in a student’s academic journey.

Currently, as a VISTA member, Tupac works with The SEED as a Outreach and Development Coordinator. His goal is to support life-long Adult learning and increase community awareness and impact of The SEED.
